July 10th, 10 a.m. "Emergency Preparedness":  Family to Family Network's Family Friends Program is pleased to have Harriet Halkyard, American Red Cross Disaster Relief Volunteer, speaking about what you can do NOW in the event you face a disaster such as a fire, tornado or hurricane. The presentation will take place at the Family to Family Network office, 13150 FM 529, Suite 106, Houston, 77041 (at the corner of N. Eldridge and FM 529). This event is free of charge, but space is limited. To R.S.V.P. call 713-466-6304.

March 29th, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. "Family to Family Network's Annual ARD Clinic"The F2F team will be on hand to help you prepare for your child's annual ARD meeting. Bring your questions, your child's educational paperwork and a lunch. The clinic will be held at the F2F office, 13150 FM 529, Suite 106, Houston 77041 (at the corner of N. Eldridge and FM 529). February 1, 2007, 7-9 p.m.: „Customized Employment: Careers for Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime!

This session will introduce person-driven strategies for determining the best possible conditions of employment, job development strategies that short circuit the brutality of competitive employment models, small business development options, resource ownership as a tactic for creating economic opportunity, amalgamated funding techniques, and work incentives that allow people to make reasonable salaries. Examples will be drawn from across the country.

Charlene Comstock-Galagan, I.D.E.A. Works Consultant, will spend an evening with us discussing the benefits of inclusive education and how to work with schools to create a good inclusive experience.  In collaboration with The Northwest Houston Chapter of the Autism Society America, AUTISM/ASPERGER/PDD  Parent & Professional Networking Group.

October 17, 2006, 7-9 p.m.: Creating Effective School/Family Partnerships
Eve Cugini will provide a presentation on how to create effective school/family partnerships that benefit children.

Disability Leadership Network of Houston is a project of Family to Family Network, funded through a grant from the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) with funds provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration on Children and Families, Administration on Developmental Disabilities. The State Farm Good Neighbor Program and Houston Endowment also provide support for this program.

Although Norman Kunc (pr. Koontz) is a well known disability rights advocate, he now prefers to think of himself as a storyteller, continuing the long held tradition of using humor and narrative to initiate self-reflection and social change.
Born with cerebral palsy, Norman attended a segregated school for children with physical disabilities; then, at the age 13, he was integrated into a regular school. From there, he went on to complete an Bachelor's degree in Humanities and a Master of Science degree in Family Therapy.
