Everette Harp

Houston born saxophonist Everette Harp has proudly announced his latest release, All For You. Of this work, the smooth jazz artist says, ³I was back to doing what I do best on this record, which is taking some great tunes and playing to the heart of the song in the way that the song dictates.²

Harpıs touring resume includes stints with Anita Baker and Kenny Loggins, and he has recorded with Patty Labelle and many other artists. He played alongside President Clinton, a jazz saxophone enthusiast, in the 1993 inaugural ball in a rendition of Your Mama Donıt Dance. (Everette gladly lent the President one of his saxophones for the occasion.) He also performed weekly in The Posse on the Arsenio Hall Show, and can be heard in the theme songs for Entertainment Tonight, and Soul Train.

But he is noted most for his passion for smooth jazz. Famed R&B/jazz artist, Paul Jackson, once said to Everette, ³You play every solo as if itıs your last.² Everette replied,  ³Every song doesnıt have to have a whole story behind it, but it has to touch a cord and Iıve really got to like it, whether I wrote it or not. I like to add some blowing sections to create more of a playerıs vibe, because I didnıt get into this genre just to play nice melodies. I did it because I love jazz and the adventurous nature of improvisation. My whole career, Iıve had a good time combining contemporary R&B with improve elements, and thatıs the energy I wanted on All For You.²

Lucky for us, Everette is back to doing what he does best.
